Oakton
Oakton is a census-designated place in central Fairfax County with a population of about 35,000. I-66 and Virginia State Route 123 both travel through the community, offering convenient access to Washington, D.C. and the scenic Shenandoah Valley to the west.
Fairfax County Public Schools serve the area, which includes two elementary schools (Oakton, Waples Mill), two middle schools (Luther Jackson, Henry David Thoreau) and two high schools (Oakton, James Madison). There are also a number of private schools in the area, including Flint Hill and Paul VI.
The Vienna stop of the Washington Metro System is located close by, which allows residents convenient access to Washington, D.C. and Arlington for work or play. Catch a Washington Capitals game at the Verizon Center or a Redskins game at FedEx Field, and stop in at some of the areas top dining or nightlife venues after for a good time!
Several shopping centers, malls, entertainment venues and recreational fields encompass the area, as well as some of the top golf courses in the region, including the Army Navy Country Club and Penderbrook Golf Club. With Oakton being in the middle of everything, it is safe to say that it should not be overlooked as a possible new home!
Vienna
Vienna is a relatively small town located in Fairfax, Virginia, which was ranked by CNN/Money and Money Magazine as one of the 100 best places to live in the U.S. in 2005. As of 2010, Vienna proper has a population of about 15,000.
The community is home to a “downtown” area complete with several small businesses and retail chain stores. Tysons Corner, one of the largest malls on the East Coast, is located within minutes and offers a variety of dining, shopping and nightlife opportunities, from average to upscale.
The first stop (and western-most) of the Washington Metro system is located in Vienna, connecting its residents to the nation’s capital via the Orange Line, which is convenient for catching a professional sports game, sightseeing with friends or family or enjoying a night out on the town! Soon, the new Silver Line will connect to Orange Line and make transportation to Wolf Trap, Tyson's Corner, and Dulles Airport a breeze.
Vienna is served by Fairfax County Public Schools and hosts two high schools (Oakton, Madison) six elementary schools and two middle schools. Paul VI, a top-rated Catholic school, is also located nearby in Fairfax City.
The community is within close proximity to several of Northern Virginia’s top golf courses, including Westwood Country Club, Hidden Creek Country Club, and the Reston National Golf Course. The bottom line is, Vienna is a unique town with a small downtown area offering convenient access to the big city as well as all of the great entertainment and recreation that Northern Virginia has to offer!
