About Arlington
Arlington, Virginia, is the yin to Washington, DC's yang, and was even a part of the District until it officially re-joined Virginia in the 1800's.
Arlington is beautifully lush with trees and foliage, with a few concentrated hubs of planned cities built around metro stops: Clarendon, Ballston, Courthouse, and Rosslyn. These miniature cities boast beautiful skyscrapers that Washington lacks, many with state-of-the-art amenities.
If a condo or apartment isn't your style, Arlington is a very convenient suburb with thousands of single-family homes, many built between 1908 and 1940. These homes were built via Sears Catalog Homes, are of exceptional quality by modern standards, and as a result, are highly sought after.
The public transportation mirrors Washington's: it is a huge part of the Washington Metro Area Transportation Authority, sharing the metro and bus lines. There are bike and walking trails galore, and parks tucked away in every neighborhood.
Arlington is home to the Pentagon, and the area's most convenient airport, Reagan National. Arlington Cemetery and Robert E. Lee's Arlington House also call this county home.
Arlington's public school district is also among the best in the country. All four public high schools--Yorktown, H-B Woodlawn, Washington-Lee and Wakefield--consistently rank very high on Newsweek's annual ranking of high schools. Yorktown and H-B Woodlawn consistently make the top 100. All the schools have new Astroturf field, award-winning teachers, and test scores that always beat national and state averages.
